Hello World, Goodbye IE6
If I were to start from the time when I first had the thought to put up a design blog/portfolio, then this blog is six years in the making. After I decided on a name (even that took a while!), I went on a long hiatus from web design — mainly because of school and a waning interest in table-based layouts. Then I found CSS Zen Garden. It might sound absurd that a simple website can change one’s life, but in the web design industry that very site has been responsible for many new and renewed careers, mine included.
After my CSS conversion I spent the better part of two years learning and refining this deceptively simple craft. I had planned on starting a blog, and I did, only to have it fall victim to the lack of focus. My hope is that this blog will provide a solution in letting my personal blog be just that, and divert all things design-related here. There are no plans of world domination, only attempts to learn and share in the world of web design through — what else? — the web. It won’t be easy keeping a blog running, so I hope it sticks.
No more IE6
When I started designing this site I decided that it will not support IE6, although its users will see a text-only version of this site. IE6 is an ancient browser that needs to be retired, and is an unlikely choice for my target audience. The movement to stop support is gaining ground, and I’m definitely not sad too see it happen.
So here goes. Enjoy.
